Jørgen Vestbo is a Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the Division of Infection Immunity and Respiratory Medicine, School of Biological Sciences at the University of Manchester, and Respiratory Theme Lead for the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre.
His main research interests are epidemiology and clinical research in COPD, including intervention research. He has worked on cohort studies in Denmark for many years and he co-chaired the 3-year ECLIPSE study aimed at better characterizing COPD. He has been on steering committees of several large COPD trials including The Copenhagen City Lung Study, TRISTAN, TORCH, SUMMIT, FLAME, TRILOGY/TRINITY/TRIBUTE and was PI on the recently published effectiveness trial, The Salford Lung Study.
He is on the Scientific Committee of the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD). top

Prof. Peter Sterk, MD, PhD, is emeritus at the Dept. Respiratory Medicine, Academic Medical Centre, Amsterdam. He was trained as clinical physiologist and works on replacing traditional diagnoses by individual bio-clinical phenotypes. He is coordinator of the U-BIOPRED project, funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) from the European Union (EU) and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA). He focuses on translational studies in the phenotyping, monitoring and targeted therapies of patients with chronic airways diseases. This includes molecular fingerprinting by transcriptomics and particularly non-invasive breathomics. The latter is currently bringing Data Driven Medicine to the clinic. top

Dr. Nair is a Respirologist at the Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton. He serves as a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Respirology at McMaster University, and a Research Leader of the Clinical Investigator Collaborative (CIC)-Severe Asthma within the Allergy, Genes and Environment Network.
Dr. Nair has been named as the third recipient of the Asthma Society of Canada’s Bastable-Potts Asthma Research Award.
Dr. Nair's research focuses on developing and applying non-invasive measurements of airway inflammation in the treatment of severe asthma and COPD.
His laboratory characterizes the types of bronchitis in airway diseases using measurements in sputum, develops novel biomarkers in sputum, identifies mechanisms of bronchitis and explores novel targeted therapies of bronchitis.

Paul W. Jones

Paul Jones is Professor of Respiratory Medicine and Head of the Division of Clinical Science at St George’s, University of London in London, UK.
His first research training was as a physiologist, but he has worked in health status measurement for over 25 years, quantifying patients’ subjective experiences of their respiratory disease. He developed the St George’s Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) and more recently the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Assessment Test (CAT) and the EXACT exacerbation diary card, among others. His current research concerns the effect of COPD on cognitive function and brain structure.
He established the Cochrane Airways Group and was its first Coordinating Editor. He is on the Editorial Board of Chest, is an associate editor of the Journal of COPD and is a member of the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Disease (GOLD) Science Committee.

Professor James Chalmers is the GSK/British Lung Foundation Chair of Respiratory Research at the University of Dundee, Scotland and an Honorary consultant physician at Ninewells Hospital. His clinical and research interests are in difficult airways diseases, particularly bronchiectasis and COPD. He is chair of the European Bronchiectasis Registry (EMBARC) and chaired the recent European Bronchiectasis Guidelines. He is deputy chief editor of the European Respiratory Journal. In 2017 he won the Patrick Neil Medal from the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Romain Pauwels award from the European Respiratory Society for his contribution to bronchiectasis research. top

Michael Cho

Dr. Michael Hyosang Cho is a physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). He is also an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
He received his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He then completed a residency in internal medicine and a chief residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary disease at BWH. He is board certified in critical care medicine, internal medicine and pulmonary disease.
Dr. Cho’s clinical research investigates the risk factors and heterogeneity of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), specifically focusing on the role of genetics in susceptibility to cigarette smoking. He has led studies on both common variants and novel phenotypes of COPD, during which he has identified chromosome and phenotype variants through machine learning and DNA sequencing. Dr. Cho has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and has received funding from the National Institutes of Health.

He has been trained postdoctoral training by Professor James C. Hogg lab at UBC James Hogg Research Centre, St. Paul’s Hospital, University of British Columbia, Vancouver.
He has a keen interest in respiratory research and a member of American Thoracic Society, European Respiratory Society, Japanese Respiratory Society, Japanese Society of Internal Medicine and Japanese Society of Allergology.

Dr. Hae-Sim Park is the Professor of the Department of Allergy & Clinical Immunology at Ajou University School of Medicine, Suwon, South Korea. She is Director of Research Institute for Innovative Medicine/ Research-driven Hospital Project of Ajou University Medical Center. In clinical science, she has been recognized as a top-ranked allergy specialist in Korea and devoted as national and regional principal investigators in early clinical trials, and real-world studies for asthma and allergy based on clinical big data. She is working as a leading author of major textbooks including Middleton’,s textbook of allergy, and has been invited numerous times to lecture before major international academic meetings. She has served on the editorial boards and as reviewers of several first class journals including Clinical Experimental Allergy, Allergy, J Allergy Clin Immunol and Eur Resp Journal. She has become an Editor-in-Chief of the Allergy Asthma Immunol Research since 2014 (SCI, IF: 3.8) and devoted to promote this journal to international scale.

Yoon-Keun Kim

Yoon-Keun Kim received his M.D. in 1987 and PhD degree in Allergy and Clinical Immunology in 1995 from the Seoul National University of College of Medicine
When was an Assistant and Associate Professor from 1999 to 2006, he had worked research focused on the immunopathogenesis of asthma and allergy. He demonstrated that non-eosinophilic asthma is induced by both Th1 and Th17 cell responses, whereas eosinophilic asthma by Th2 cell response.
Especially, he has elucidated the role of extracellular vesicles derived from microbes on the pathogenesis of inflammatory and metabolic diseases. Establishing MD Healthcare Inc. in October of 2014, Yoon-Keun aspires to provide a platform for integrative health service consisting of diagnosis, prevention, analysis, and nutrition which will lead to improvement of overall health for the population.

Dr. Woo-Jung Song is an allergist physician-scientist at Department of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Asan Medical Center, University of Ulsan College of Medicine, Korea.
His current interests are focused on 1) cough hypersensitivity and 2) adult-onset asthma. He is seeking for novel diagnostic and therapeutic tools for cough hypersensitivity syndrome and chronic refractory cough. He is also interested in the epidemiology and pathophysiology of adult-onset severe asthma, recently in relation to staphylococcal superantigens and nasal polyps.
He is also working in the field of evidence-based medicine for asthma, cough, and allergic diseases. He is a main contributor to recent international and domestic clinical practice guidelines for chronic cough, chronic urticaria, asthma and airway diseases.

Yoon-Seok Chang, M.D., Ph.D. is a professor of the Division of Allergy & Clinical Immunology at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Seoul National University College of Medicine, Seongnam, Korea. He was educated at Seoul National University College of Medicine and got his PhD degree at the same university in 2003. He gained clinical and research experiences at the Seoul National University Hospital. His major research activities are 1) epidemiologic study on allergy including asthma, rhinitis, food allergy, drug allergy, and anaphylaxis 2) pathogenesis on allergic diseases, and 3) education on allergy for health professionals, patients, and community. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and 12 book chapters. He received many awards including Excellence in Science and Technology award (The Korean Federation for Science and Technology Societies) and Commendations from the Governor of Gyeonggi- do, and the Minister of Health and Welfare, Korea.
